Nestled in the picturesque town of Beechworth in North-East Victoria, we live and learn in a beautiful setting in the High Country, in the now National Heritage listed town of Beechworth. Our college is a close-knit community comprising approx 270 students and 32 dedicated staff members. Students travel from many smaller communities in the Indigo area to our school. Our manageable size allows us to provide individualised attention to each student, fostering strong relationships and personalised support. With recent capital works, our facilities offer comfortable and well-resourced learning spaces, in extensive grounds.

BSC offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to cater to diverse interests and learning styles. In addition to the Year 7-10 Victorian Curriculum and Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), we provide specialised programs such as VCE Vocational Education and Training (VET) options, virtual education (VSV, VSL, CHES, University studies), and access to Technical and Further Education (TAFE), and School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) for senior students. In 2026, we will be accessing the new Tech School opening in Wangaratta. This diverse range of options ensures that every student can pursue pathways aligned with their aspirations and pathways goals. SC creates confident individuals who take on a wide range of future prospects – academic, rural, creative or trades-based pathways.

Each student is well known by our teachers, who focus on delivering high quality academic and vocational outcomes, where students are both supported and challenged to extend their skills and achieve their goals as confident individuals. We have a whole school approach through the implementation of the Berry Street Education Model and SWPBS – School Wide Positive Behaviour Support.

The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) is a practical, evidence based approach to teaching and learning that enables teachers to increase engagement with students and successfully improve all students’ self-regulation, growth and academic achievement.

On behalf of Beechworth Secondary College, I extend a warm welcome to all prospective students, parents and staff.

Principal's Message

The school values its strong connections to the people and history of this diverse community of Beechworth, Yackandandah, Stanley and the wider Indigo Valley. We are keen to acknowledge our history within the community.

At Beechworth Secondary College we have a strong focus on academic and personal success and wellbeing. We aim to engage our students and offer the support and extension they need. We believe in upholding the school values which challenge our learners to grow and to develop holistically. This will position your child for a successful pathway post secondary education.

We have adapted our work as educators effectively to respond to the changing educational environment.

Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff are continually updating their skills and knowledge to respond to the needs of individual students. Whilst a strong academic focus is important, we also acknowledge that there is so much more that goes into a successful educational experience.

We offer a rich array of extra-curricular activities that has something for everyone to find success and build the skills, knowledge and relationships which will support them throughout their life. Beechworth Secondary College continues to be responsive to the needs of the community we serve.
