Senior School Courses

The school values its strong connections to the people and history of this diverse community of Beechworth, Yackandandah, Stanley and the wider Indigo Valley. We are keen to acknowledge our history within the community.

At Beechworth Secondary College we have a strong focus on academic and personal success and wellbeing. We aim to engage our students and offer the support and extension they need. We believe in upholding the school values which challenge our learners to grow and to develop holistically. This will position your child for a successful pathway post secondary education.

We have adapted our work as educators effectively to respond to the changing educational environment.

Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff are continually updating their skills and knowledge to respond to the needs of individual students. Whilst a strong academic focus is important, we also acknowledge that there is so much more that goes into a successful educational experience.

We offer a rich array of extra-curricular activities that has something for everyone to find success and build the skills, knowledge and relationships which will support them throughout their life. Beechworth Secondary College continues to be responsive to the needs of the community we serve.

Pathways Planning

There are many ways that your senior schooling can help you get where you want to go. Talk with your friends and family to help work out ‘what is important to you?’

  • Are you interested in learning about the world of work? – VCE VM might suit you.
  • Are you interested in testing yourself academically and trying for an ATAR? – VCE might suit you.

Whichever senior school option you choose, there are ways of accessing employment, training, and higher education once you have finished Year 12.

Did you know that Beechworth Secondary College has its own Careers website?

All students and families can use the BSC Careers website to find information about jobs, career pathways, higher education and training options, money and budgeting, as well as plenty of links to industries, government initiatives.

It is a great place to start your research BEFORE you make your subject selections.

The following questions should also help guide subject choices:

  • Am I interested in this study?
  • Is it a study containing the right level of difficulty for me?
  • Do my teachers and parents think it is a wise choice for me?

Would you like to chat?

All Year 10 and 11 students will have an opportunity to talk with Senior School Leaders during ARC and Health and Careers over the next few weeks. Formal course counselling/course confirmation interviews will occur in early September.

Students are encouraged to talk to subject teachers about post school study options and careers in their field.
