VCE / VCAL / VET Overview |
|
|
The latter years of schooling have changed considerably in recent years. Where there was only the single pathway to the world of work and tertiary education through the VCE program in past years, this is now complemented with a range of options that include the more vocational approaches of Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL), the industry specific VET courses, e.g. Hospitality, Sport and Recreation, Multi Media & Equine Studies and school based apprenticeships.
Beechworth Secondary College students are offered an extensive range of courses and subjects to fit these frameworks and the full range of abilities of our students. Many of the VCE classes are small, allowing staff to provide greater individual attention and support. The school has an excellent record of VCE results. Each year some students are achieving ENTER scores in the 90’s and most achieve well enough to get their pathway of choice.
Study and motivation camps/sessions are held in years 11 & 12 to assist students in focusing on their work in the final years at Beechworth Secondary College. Goal setting and study skills sessions are important parts of these programs.
Years 10—12 are supported in planning for their future with the Managed Individual Pathways program in conjunction with advice from careers teachers and year level co-ordinators. |
