Science Overview |

All students in Years 8 and 9 study core Science. The Year 7 students are involved in the SCOPE program in 2005. In Year 10 students must study at least one semester unit of Alive and Active, Eco Chemistry or Techno Science. Additional Electives are available at Year 9 and 10 levels. These include : Animal Behaviour, Electronics , Forensic Science, Robotics and Ecology.
The four strands covered are:
- Chemical Science
- Physical Science
- Earth and Space Sciences
- Biological Science
Through their study of science, students are supported and encouraged to :
- Acquire and apply a range of scientific knowledge and skills in each of the four strands.
- Work co-operatively in groups to design/construct, carry out, evaluate and communicate the results of experiments.
- Complete investigations using appropriate reading, oral and research skills, including those which represent areas of their own interest.
- Work independently and in an organised manner in class and at home.
- Gain an appreciation of how science can help them to understand their present world and how it may impact on their futures.
